While walking along the coastal beach on holiday with her family, Karen finds an old green bronze mirror. Fascinated with the history of the Roman Empire, she is pulled back in time, through the magic of the mirror, to the age of Roman Britain in A.D. 63 when Nero was Emperor.

Karen becomes the property of the state, sold as a slave. The book follows Karen’s adventures and misfortunes as she finds herself trapped, and tries to find her way home. Karen is forced to work as a nursemaid to the children of Lady Julia and her husband, the merchant Lucius. She is also forced to attend terrifying Roman games, and, as she finds friends who are Christians, must meet in secret to worship. Along the way, Karen finds love and a special person that helps her find the green bronze mirror again. When Karen returns to her own time, she gets to bring her love with her.

I really enjoyed reading "The Green Bronze Mirror", especially the Roman history. I found myself intrigued by the story and anxious to find out what lay ahead for Karen. I`d recommend this book to young adults. The story will keep the reader captivated until the end.
