The Ghost of the Sundance Kid and Other Stories by June Raleigh tells us of Harry Alonzo Longabaugh, a well-known criminal from Mont Clare, and his many escapades in the 1800s as The Sundance Kid, as well as the breathtaking spiritual experiences of two teenagers and the ghost of a middle school teacher who died an untimely death. In her book, June debunks the myths and separates them from the truth surrounding Harry and his entourage, and also gives us the freedom to draw our own conclusions with the murkier parts. Joshua Martin’s close encounter with God at the beach and 17-year-old Shannon’s near-death experience after a car crash speak volumes as their lives are forever changed by these miraculous events.
Reading The Ghost of the Sundance Kid and Other Stories was a wonderful experience; it serves as an eye-opener to those who are unaware of God’s ways. Jason's and Shannon’s stories were heartwarming and left me with goosebumps. Reading about their encounters with God was truly amazing and once again gave me the chance to contemplate our purpose on earth, as did the accompanying quotes from the Bible June Raleigh has added. The author's narrative style and authenticity were impressive; it was obvious she had done her background work diligently and wrote to the best of her knowledge. I also found June’s strong opinion of the subject matter interesting and couldn't help agreeing with her views. I recommend The Ghost of the Sundance Kid and Other Stories to those searching for spiritual awakening.
