"The Fact/Faith Debate: why science hasn't killed religion," written by Jack Gage, explores beliefs and experiences that are commonly debated among religious and scientific groups. There are nineteen chapters in this book, each focusing on a specific event or subject and a bibliography is included as well. There are chapters focusing on the Virgin Birth, how old the Earth is, how far away the stars are, why people have faith, and the lives of Noah and Jonah, among other topics. Each chapter is filled with researched information and the author's thoughts based upon what he has been taught, what is questioned and his own conclusions. The bibliography that is included allows the reader to refer to the sources used by the author in his research and allow for additional study if desired.
I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to start reading this book as I have strong beliefs on the subjects included in this book as well as a strong religious/Christian faith. However, the book is not meant to force the reader to change his or her beliefs and follow the author's beliefs. The information is shared in such a way that it is just that, a sharing of information including questions and explanations. This book is thought-provoking and will encourage you to think about what your own beliefs are and either cause you to question an aspect or feel more confident in what your belief is. This book is well-researched, well-organized, and presented in an easy to read and follow manner.
