The Downward Climb by Tracey Pollackov is a spiritually uplifting read which speaks about God and tells readers how to live their lives and conduct themselves in this world. All the questions surrounding us are answered as you read through the book. All relevant topics in our daily lives are explained with interesting quotes from the Bible. The book is a great encouragement to the followers of Christ. The author speaks about the difficulties of sticking to religion and God amid the materialistic and worldly distractions of the current times. The declining standards of the world and how to live in that kind of a society is another topic of interest in this book.
I liked the book for the fact that is has covered all the topics that are always raised in our mind regarding living in a negative world where you are surrounded by people and incidents which display a lack of humanity and concern. I liked the topic 'submitting our children to God' and 'raising children in the ways of God'. Examples are given from the scriptures to enhance the impact of the topic. The author also speaks to us about changing our mind-set.
The questions the author has coined for us to reflect upon after each chapter is nice and it is a good way of making the reader go back and mull over things. I always enjoy reading spiritual books because each time I learn something new from them which influences my perspective in a good way.
