The world is in turmoil. Things are happening that no one could have predicted. But the advancements of our world are not the focus of this book. The focus of this book is for Jeremiah to locate his son who has been gone for almost a year. With the help of his friend Jack, he has determined that his son is on the moon and so he’s off to find him. But there is more to this story than a missing boy. There is someone who is trying to keep Jeremiah from reaching the boy, but why? What could a boy have to do with a threat to the Earth itself? It turns out Jeremiah’s son is worth more to this rebellion than anyone could imagine in The Devereaux Disaster by Steve McEllistrem.
Jeremiah is just like any typical father who’s worried about his son. This is what makes it easy for readers to relate to him. Of course then there’s Joshua, Jeremiah’s son, and Zora, Lendra and Curtik. There’s plenty of adventure and plenty of interesting characters throughout the course of this well written book. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t seem to put it down. I was drawn into the way Jeremiah fought and continued to fight as his son was at risk. This wasn’t just your typical 'saving the world' story; in fact, it’s quite different from most because the characters aren’t entirely human. Sure they may be part of the Earth but they are also somewhat of a science experiment. It’s a whole new world out there in The Devereaux Disaster by Steve McEllistrem.
