A young girl's tragedy prompts her guardian to take a more in-depth look into his relationship with his girlfriend in the romance novella, The Commitment (The O'Connells Book 5) by Lorhainne Eckhart. After his father walked out on his family, Marcus O'Connell doesn't believe a piece of paper holds a relationship together. Marcus may be unwilling to solidify his commitment to his girlfriend, Charlotte, with a marriage certificate, but Charlotte wants to be married. Marcus can't understand why, on top of adjusting to fostering a little girl, Eva, Charlotte wants to tie the knot again, especially after just receiving her final divorce papers from an unhappy marriage. When Marcus learns that Eva's biological mother wants to give her parental rights over to him, he begins to reconsider his position as a family man. Will Marcus give in to the pressure of his family and society and marry Charlotte? Or will he let his, Charlotte's, and Eva's future hang in the balance?
The Commitment (The O'Connells Book 5) by Lorhainne Eckhart is another fascinating anecdote in a series. It is a well-written novella that is an excellent romantic interlude for a larger story. Although the story is short, the plot is intriguing, the storyline interesting, and the characters are engaging and relatable. Even though this is the fifth episode in a series, I never got lost or confused; the book does very well as a standalone. It is the perfect story for a quick pick-me-up when you want to read a happy ever after story and don't have the time to read a whole novel. It is a nice romantic story that will delight young adults and everyone else who is a fan of romance novels.
