The Bridge Monster by Michael J. DiPinto is the story of the curious and mischievous monster who lives under drawbridges. He always hides and only very few people have seen glimpses and peeks of his tiny little hands and seven-toed feet. Even the bridge tenders have no clue where he comes from but everyone knows he has made his home under the bridge. He gets annoyed when vehicles pass over the bridge and sometimes he shakes the bridge very hard and sometimes he shakes it too hard. He loves teasing the bridge tenders too and many of them believe he is lonely and looking for a friend. So next time you pass over the bridge, say hello to the Bridge Monster and make him smile.
The story is wonderful and now crossing bridges will never be the same again once readers finish the book. The concept of the Bridge Monster is adorable and Sue Lynn Cotton's illustrations not only breathe life into the scenes but also give the Bridge Monster a personality of his own. Her illustrations add color to the story and will captivate young readers. It is a simple story and there is humor, fun, and a small element of fear as young readers get to know the Bridge Monster. It is a good story for bedtime storytelling and for reading aloud and storytelling sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The story will make children and adults look at bridges with a different perspective once they complete this book.
