The Amazon Way on IoT: 10 Principles for Every Leader from the World's Leading Internet of Things Strategies, Volume 2 is a non-fiction business/finance work written by John Rossman. In addition to running his own consulting company, Rossman was responsible for launching and operating Amazon’s Marketplace for third-party vendors and was instrumental in running Amazon’s Enterprise Services. His first book in this series, The Amazon Way: 14 Leadership Principles Behind the World's Most Disruptive Company, closely examines what made Amazon the dominating force it's become and what guiding principles were used in leading it to that position. In this text, he sets out the 10 principles that can be adapted to just about any business model and how to make them work for your business. First, however, he discusses exactly what he means by the IoT, or Internet of Things. Throughout the work, Rossman reminds the reader that customer satisfaction was the main driving force in Bezos' strategy for building his Amazon empire -- and not just an awareness of the importance of customer satisfaction. Customer service was, and is, an obsession. From that first pillar, Bezos began building. Rossman sets out three killer goals for those interested in using IoT in their businesses: an obsession with customer satisfaction; working towards a transformation of the operations of the business into more streamlined and efficient ones, and branching out into new concepts and opportunities.
You don't have to have a degree in computer science, economics or even be tech-savvy to get what John Rossman recommends in his non-fiction business/finance work, The Amazon Way on IoT: 10 Principles for Every Leader from the World's Leading Internet of Things Strategies, Volume 2. As I started reading of Bezos and his obsession with customer satisfaction, I began smiling. I've long been an Amazon fan and the biggest reason is that top-notch customer service. There's something incredibly reassuring about buying from Amazon. Bezos has made it so easy to instantly chat with a customer service representative, and I've rarely had an encounter that wasn't totally satisfactory. While I am somewhat tech-savvy, I didn't really have a good understanding of the term IoT and what it could do for a business. Rossman sets it out clearly and in an organized fashion as he sets out his 10 principles and gives examples to show how they can be adapted. This deceptively slim volume is chock-full of information, plans and strategies, including how to set up any mathematical formulas and algorithms -- and then get them handled by someone else. The Amazon Way on IoT: 10 Principles for Every Leader from the World's Leading Internet of Things Strategies, Volume 2 is most highly recommended.
