The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot is an exciting children’s adventure by Josh Gottsegen. Rockford was constantly bullied by his family and other squirrels while growing up in Tropland. His family then abandoned him when he unintentionally ruined their hazelnut business. Although timid, Rockford decided to explore the world like his book heroes. He worked for Eve, a famous chef, and accidentally caused a fire that changed his future. Rocky stayed awhile with monks who imparted their wisdom and skills. He changed physically and mentally when he left the monastery. He began selling his special nuts and became known as “The Nutty Nut.” Rocky had many bold adventures and dangerous escapades. He made numerous critter friends, but never forgot his family. Would he ever see them again? Would they forgive him for ruining the family business?
Grab your favorite nuts or snacks before going on an amazing journey with Rockford. Don’t forget to pack soap as Rocky dislikes getting his paws dirty. It’s easy to forget that Rocky and the other characters are critters and not humans. Tropland is a vast forest filled with treehouses, restaurants and other businesses that cater to all the creatures who dwell there. Rockford is the narrator throughout the book and he is an accomplished storyteller. He reminisces with emotion while reflecting on his life. It is one that has been filled with love, laughter, adventures, and sadness. Josh Gottsegen has earned my admiration for creating such a remarkable story. The Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot will become a treasured book for children and adults.
