The Adventures of Leo and Fancy by Rosa Smith follows the exploits of Fancy the dog and Leo the cat. The two are both strays wandering the streets, trying to evade animal control. This unlikely pair get together and help each other out in times of need. Although they finally find a home, they later change owners due to various circumstances. We follow along as Leo and Fancy not only learn more about the people around them but how these two adorable animals change the lives of the people they meet.
The Adventures of Leo and Fancy by Rosa Smith is a sweet and simple children’s book with a world of depth to it. On the surface, it seems like a tale of two animals who find their own home with some kind humans, but the story has many deeper themes and lessons if you’re willing to look. The struggles Leo and Fancy face at the start and how they help each other out on the streets show that having a true friend can make a world of difference even in the toughest of situations. When they found a home with Gary and Amy, it showed how having pets can truly change your life for the better even when you don’t want them. I found this book to be so heartwarming and I think not only children will enjoy the story but their parents as well. I would recommend this book to any family, especially those who have pets or those who are thinking of adding any furry members to the family.
