Gerald Gillis is a native Georgian who grew up in the Atlanta suburb of Decatur. He received his BBA from the University of Georgia and his MBA from the University of Tampa.
Immediately upon completing undergraduate school, Gerald spent three years as an artillery officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After military service, he spent the majority of his business career in the medical-devices industry where he held executive-level positions in a variety of roles. Gerald was involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions over the span of his business career, and gained significant international experience.
Gerald became a full-time novelist in 2009. He has authored four novels: That Deadly Space (Mills Street Publishing, 2017), Dare Not Blink (Navigator Books, 2012), Shall Never See So Much (Booklocker, 2010), and Bent, But Not Broken (Sandlapper, 1986). He has also authored an eBook entitled Paige’s Laws of Business (Navigator Books, 2013). His books have been recognized with multiple awards.
In addition to his writing, Gerald speaks on a range of topics, to include leadership, service, and business ethics. His blogs and articles have been well-received and highly viewed. Gerald has been interviewed on numerous radio and television shows and has spoken to business and civic organizations, schools, churches, and military associations. His engaging keynote presentations are filled with intelligence, humor, and passion.
Gerald is married and the father of three grown children. He and his wife continue to reside in the Atlanta area.

That Deadly Space: A Civil War Novel by Gerald Gillis is a novel with a powerful historical setting, a Civil War novel with characters that are solid and wonderfully developed. Conor Rafferty joins the Confederate army as an Infantry Officer, even though his Irish father is against the war with the North, and finds himself embroiled in gruesome and heart-shattering experiences. Follow his journey from battle to battle and explore what war can do to a man’s soul as he serves with distinction, courage, and unwavering determination. Years have rolled by and the memories are still as fresh as yesterday, imprinted upon his soul, and these memories he now shares with his grandson, Aaron, bound for Europe to fight in World War I in the US Army.
The story is told in a compelling way and Gerald Gillis has the uncanny gift of creating characters that are real and memorable, and readers will enjoy navigating the labyrinths of the mind of the protagonist. It is emotionally charged and the psychological impact of the war on soldiers comes out vividly. The writing is wonderful and there is a lyricism that rings through the prose, adding beauty to the story and making it irresistible. In this book, the author explores very compelling themes, including the tragedy of war, romance, courage, call to duty, heroism, and a lot more. That Deadly Space: A Civil War Novel has a strong plot — fast-paced and complex — with exciting characters, and a vivid setting. Fans of historical novels, especially war novels, will find it hard to part with this one.
