After being gone for a long time, Leah is finally returning to Singapore, though under dire circumstances considering she’s going back because of her father’s death. Revisiting Singapore might be more exciting than she expected when she meets her childhood sweetheart, Toran, after so long. It would have been romantic if the two of them weren’t running for their lives, seeing as the possible killer of Leah’s father is out to get them. Will the murderer get to Leah and Toran before they have a chance to continue where they left off years ago? Find out in Tender Deceit, the first book in the Tender Series by H.Y. Hanna.
H.Y. Hanna showcased the beautiful city of Singapore in this fast paced, daring and romantic novel. The description of the setting was very good; it was like being in the place myself. The scenes were written well, the plot developed nicely and the dialogues felt realistic and funny at times, never boring, making Tender Deceit a wonderful start to the Tender Series. It was a solid foundation for the coming books and I can’t wait to read what becomes of Leah and Toran in the future. Leah and Toran were both likable characters. They had good chemistry and the attraction can be really felt through the book. I liked how the author inserted the couple’s history in the plot; it looks like more mysteries are to be unraveled in the next books. The book was a perfect combination of suspense, mystery and love. A five star read.
