British by Birth, Matt Tyson has spent most of the last decade working and living in Africa. He was drawn to Africa through a volunteering programme working on medicine supply chains. Both his children were born in South Africa, where Matt and his family now live, in the Western Cape. He wrote his first book 'Telonaut' whilst travelling and working on the continent. Telonaut will be the first in a series of books, 'The Teloverse Series'. He’s likely working on ‘Infonaut’ as you read this.
When not writing, Matt is a lumbering oaf of a triathlete. He powers through the swim but cycles like there is a bread basket on the front of his bike. His running has improved since he was introduced to audiobooks and therefore happier to train for longer. He'll complete a full distance Iron Man one day, once his children are old enough for him to spend time running in circles rather than running after them.
Bradford City Football Club hold a special place in Matt’s heart, an immovable stone formed there through years of standing in the cold and wet with friends that felt like family, sharing hopes and dreams for the success of an endeavor. Matt believes that listening to Prince and David Bowie and supporting Bradford City can teach you 80% of everything you need to know about life. Happy accident will take care of the other 20%.

Telonaut by Matt Tyson is a gripping introduction to the Teloverse sci-fi series, a novel that is highly entertaining and thought-provoking. Set against a post-apocalyptic age, when the world is just recovering from economic crisis, it narrates the mission of Sero Novak, an astute man who travels on a mission to another world, the wetworld of NineDee, to find out what is happening with the colonies. Distracted by his own past and painful loss, Novak has to face grueling trials. Readers watch with bated breath while he embarks on this delicate and challenging mission.
I loved the complex setting with its advanced technology, which allows people of earth to develop a direct link with the colonies through a powerful memory broadcast program. Technology thrives in this setting, and although it may sound far-fetched to some, this novel could be prophetic of the fate of humanity. There is a lot that resonates with modern man and his will to conquer and dominate. The book raises relevant social and ethical issues, and touches on the advancement in technology and the challenges it brings. Readers will love the protagonist who is so well-developed that he becomes a symbol of the hopes and dreams, as well as the fears, of many human beings.
The three-dimensional characters are well-developed, the entire story — though fiction — is filled with stunning realism. The writing is beautiful and the plot evenly paced. Readers who love intelligent dialogues that flow naturally will enjoy the book. Telonaut is a great read that will entertain and excite the minds of readers who enjoy genetic technology. Matt Tyson is a good writer with a great skill at developing characters that readers will care about.
