Sweet Scent of Forgiveness by Delia Latham is a Christian romance. Norah is an orphan living with an older brother in a Cinderella existence, being a servant to the lazy wife of her brother. At age 16, Norah marries a man named Chandler in order to escape her brother's home. Three weeks later she escapes from her husband, who is an alcoholic and abusive. Norah takes the bus to the end of the route and lands in a place where she is loved, and nurtured, and witnessed to. Norah is able to get an annulment from Chandler. Norah finishes high school and becomes a Christian through the influence of her new friends. At 19, Norah meets a soldier home from Afghanistan. They marry and have 2 weeks together. He returns to Afghanistan, only to be killed very soon after that, leaving her pregnant. Eight years later, Norah has a garden store where her now 7-year-old son helps her with her planting. Then strange, threatening notes start arriving.

My favorite part of Sweet Scent of Forgiveness by Delia Latham is how God led Norah to the very place where she found a job, shelter, and a group of people who took her in and made a difference in Norah's life. I loved how these people became the mother and father figures she lacked. I enjoyed Norah's son Donovan, who at 7 is wise beyond his years. I loved the sermon about the rose petals and the lesson about forgiveness. I appreciated the lesson about Chandler's dad treating him badly and how it affected Chandler as an adult. I liked how strong Norah became, after having so many trials in her life. I was glad that there was a chance for Norah to love again.
