Stronger Together by Michael Stone is the story of two women who might be family, but their bond might be more than familial. Nicci Bleu is in Tahiti and trying to find herself, especially after discovering that she might actually have a family. While her life is nothing less than a challenge, her looks and her determination are enough to make sure that she will more than just survive. However, finding connections and making sense of the world around her is not as easy as she thought. Jordin La Toi is not having it easy either. While she is traveling to Paris, she is considering doing something productive and fruitful with her talents. She has an option to become a hacker for the government and it is an opportunity that she should and must not reject. But does she really want to take this opportunity? There is something fishy going on, something that demands her attention, but she cannot find out what it is. Should she take this opportunity to find out? If she does, will she make it out alive?
What I truly enjoyed about this novel is the fact that the author drew very sharp and clear characters. Jordin was enigmatic, determined and ready to take charge of the situation while Nicci was more adventurous, daring and somewhat lost in the vast world. These two main characters contrasted each other very well and had me reading on. While one woman was trying to find herself in a beautiful location, the other was trying to find out what was wrong and how her life came to be what it is. These two diverse story lines made reading Stronger Together even more enjoyable. The pace of the novel was fast while the narrative was strong, and this combo worked wonders for me. I was grateful for the French translations because that made reading and connecting with the characters easier. Plus, the cover of the novel is simply stunning! Very entertaining and interesting.
