As a child, J. S. Bailey escaped to fantastic worlds through the magic of books and began to write as soon as she could pick up a pen. She dabbled in writing science fiction until she discovered supernatural suspense novels and decided to write her own. Today her stories focus on unassuming characters who are thrown into terrifying situations which may or may not involve ghosts, demons, and evil old men. She believes that good should always triumph in the end. Bailey lives with her husband and cats in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Solitude: The Chronicles of Servitude by J.S Bailey features Bobby, a young down on his luck musician with the gift of premonition. A drifter, he moves around the country in search of somewhere to launch his music career. Currently working in a book store, he befriends Mitchell, who is in a band with some friends. Bobby receives a premonition about Mitchell and must try to warn him before he ends up dead. At a party, he tries to figure out which of his friends is going to be the cause of Mitchell's demise. The problem is there is more than one suspect.
J.S. Bailey has written an interesting story in Solitude. She dives straight into the tale and sets the scene well. Bobby seems like a decent character who happens to be plagued with visions. Not unlike Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas series, the story kept me riveted. There is so much to do with the character and, I believe, a lot more stories to tell as he travels the country. A full length novel would be great. The subject of visions and premonitions has been used in a lot of stories, but Bobby's experience is based more on feelings and pictures in his head of whomever he is having the vision about. I think it's more subtle. It would be interesting to know more about Bobby, how he got the ability, what happened to his father when he was younger. I look forward to seeing more work from this author in the future.
