Join the adventures of a toddler and her two siblings with Smelly Begins. Written by Cindy Lane and beautifully illustrated by Mimi Hong, this heartwarming children's picture book contains three stories and follows a little girl named Victoria on her escapades. When Victoria was born, her older brothers Jelly and Welly decided she needed a nickname. And what rhymes better with Jelly and Welly than Smelly? After Smelly learned to walk as a toddler, she developed a strong affinity for perfumes made from flowers. The combination of oranges, lilies, and petunias was her particular favorite. But when she joined the local soccer team, she realized she needed a new nickname. And her brothers were again ready with one -- Nugget. Will Nugget be able to score and help her team win?
The first book in The Adventures of Smelly Rogers series is an absolute blast. Wholesome and humorous, Smelly Begins is a wonderful children's book that even adults can enjoy while reading it to their kids. Cindy Lane captures the relationship of young siblings flawlessly in the pages. The author uses catchy rhymes to establish a sibling dynamic that lays the foundation for this light-hearted adventure tale. Mimi Hong's lively illustrations add visual stimuli to the story and make it even more entertaining for the young reader. Smelly is an adorable child whose antics will put a smile on your face. This is the perfect adventure book for kindergarteners or young kids who have just started to read picture books. I heartily recommend it.
