Smart Girl, Dumb Love by Kelsye Nelson is a collection of three very humorous short stories. Each story is completely different from the other, but all three are equally interesting. From the first story, about pulling out your dirty laundry after the first date, instead of wasting time and discovering these annoying things later, to the second one about a young girl so in love and yet so confused. Then the book moves on to a story about staring down your fear and claiming your rightful place; once you stare your fear in the face, you realize it wasn't that hard to start with. She even throws in a bonus story at the end.
Smart Girl, Dumb Love is a book that I read in less than an hour but then regretted reading it too fast. Each story gave me something completely different from the last but I found all equally amusing. Kelsye Nelson's writing style in this book is the type that has you moving from one page to the next without even realizing it. The stories are very short and yet give so much. This is the type of book you grab when you have an hour to kill, or even the type you can read while having your quick one-hour lunch break. You can even read it as you wait at the reception for your doctor's appointment, or just that one hour in bed, just before you drift off to dreamland. It is that short, and that good. I can't wait to read volume 2.
