Have you ever heard of a zingel fish? Or is it zingel zingel? It’s real! It swims in the freshwater rivers of Europe. There’s also a zander fish, not Zander who belittles the Salamander, but a real zander fish. It’s also a freshwater fish. With a delicious relish for the “F” for “Fish”, one might consider the inevitable dilemma: “How I wish/ that the FISH/ on my dish/ so delish/ didn’t squish/ and then swish!’ right off the dish.” Well, “you could nail it down,” couldn’t you? Don’t you just love the unending rhyming nonsense that sometimes, surprisingly, really does make sense?
Anil’s book, Silly Animal Rhymes and Stories: Zoo Two, is indeed an alphabet book with a difference. How so? Well, for one thing, it’s missing some of the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. So, you may ask, how does this help one learn the alphabet. You have to figure out which letters are missing. It’s also a collection of silly rhymes and stories about real animals, sometimes uncommonly unknown by many. What fun to read repetitive rhyming verses, with lots of alliteration and punny plays on words, the author providing countless creative names for each character presented. Even Santa Claus makes an appearance as he settles in for a card game with his pal, Zed Zingel, the zingel fish who lives in Dingle. Now, you have to admit, some of these silly rhymes are real tongue twisters. Young readers will be delighted with this educational and entertaining alternate alphabet book, which begins with a quiz and ends with some rather uniquely creative (and funny) answers. This book will ultimately tickle your funny bone and allow you to enjoy more than a chuckle or two.
