Bubbles is a sad little fish because he has a disfigured tail. The other sea creatures tease Bubbles about this as it prevents him from swimming fast and playing games. Pickles, an electric eel and Bubbles’ best friend, and Kama the mermaid go to see Professor Opus. He is a smart octopus who helps others. Professor Opus takes them to the junkyard where humans dump their junk. They search the trash, hoping to find something that can be substituted for a tail. Shredder appears, determined to finish eating Bubbles, and even sings about it. When the others try to stop him, he chases them, too. Jacqueline Pansy is the author of this charming children’s book.
Shredder Ate My Tail is a book that is sure to delight young kids. This short story is a lively read with wonderful characters and an exciting plot. Shredder is so mean spirited, and Jacqueline Pansy wrote great descriptions of this shark and the scary adventure that Bubbles and his friends experienced. She built up the fear that Shredder put into the sea creatures with his terrifying dialogue and song. The colourful illustrations, also sketched by Jacqueline Pansy, nicely matched the story. It has a good lesson and moral about being kind to others. Bubbles and his adorable friends will be loved by children. I found the story creative and know the author will gain a following of avid young readers.
