Shaping Destiny by Heather Monroe is the story of Leah Hawk, a young woman getting ready to start her college life without any idea that her destiny isn't hers to control and that fate already has a plan for her. When somebody tries to kidnap her, Leah meets a man that is going to change her life, and she has no idea how. As more attacks happen, Leah and her savior Max band together to figure out the mystery behind the attacks. One trip home finally gives Leah the answers she's been searching for all her life. With Max's help and training, Leah is able to gain control of her new shape shifting abilities. With the help of her family and Max, Leah is able to end a war that was started a century before her birth, one that she had no idea she was a part of until her shifting abilities were triggered.
Shaping Destiny by Heather Monroe is an easy read with amazing details that put you right there with Leah and Max. Heather Monroe does a masterful job of blending romance, a teenager becoming an adult, and courage into one character who had no idea she was strong enough to travel the path that fate had set for her. Shaping Destiny is a paranormal book in the fact that it's about shape shifters, but it's more than that as it's also a coming of age story as Leah is forced to grow up quickly when her abilities are triggered. I would definitely recommend Shaping Destiny to anyone looking for an enjoyable book.
