Secrets of The 800+ Club: How to Raise Your Credit Score, Maintain Good Credit, and Live the Life of Unicorns, by Terrell Dinkins, is a must-read self-help book for anyone needing a crash course in understanding credit or boosting your score. There are tons of personal finance books available today, but this one gets to the heart of the subject in a succinct, easy style that makes it a fun, enjoyable read. We need to know what credit is all about, but most of us don't, and this is why Dinkins's book is so important. Credit is a big part of your financial life. Good credit can help you buy a new car or house, and bad credit can get you turned down. So, understanding the terminology and ins and outs of credit can give you an edge and help salvage or maintain good credit. But even more than this, the author divulges secrets of the 800+ Club, which means coaching you toward a credit score of 800 or higher.
What I love about this book are the concrete techniques that Dinkins shares about personal finances and credit, especially the terminology that is used every day but which people may not fully understand. If you've ever wanted to reach a score of 800 or above, this book is for you and covers things like how to open a business bank account to the right way to borrow money and pay it back. But it's also for people who are just starting out in the credit world and want to avoid mistakes that could lead to financial disaster. If you follow the steps that the author outlines, you should be able to reach your goals. A unicorn, in a financial sense, is one who always has outstanding credit. It can be done, especially when you have Dinkins and her expertise showing you how. One of my favorite parts of the book is about how to spot and avoid scams. This is a guide you can easily refer to again and again while managing your personal finances. If you need credit guidance from a true financial advisor, Secrets of The 800+ Club by Terrell Dinkins is a must-read.
