Author Biography

I am a recently published author, taking my lifelong hobby of writing to the next level. Publishing a novel has been one of my goals for almost 40 years, and this marks another milestone in my life. I want to offer a good story that lets the reader have a temporary escape to be entertained and see the movie in their own minds.

I was a finalist in the Sante Fe Writer’s Project annual contest for one of my short stories.

My debut novel, Scourge, won first place in the CLC Book Excellence Award for Paranormal and Urban Fantasy in 2023.

I live in West Texas with my wife and herd of furry, four footed children.

Scourge is the first book in the Triskellion Saga by Rodney W. McWilliams. Darkness has fallen over New York City, with lives taken in the shadows en masse. A waitress on her way home vanishes. Homeless people are disappearing from the streets at an alarming rate. Detectives Joe Anderson and Angela Benson take point and turn over every possible lead they can find, but the suspects do not seem human. When the mayor's daughter ends up in hospital after a drug party that claims many fatalities, the press seems to have more information than the police. It is time to plug the leaks, follow up new leads, and solve the crimes, no matter where the evidence takes those in charge of the investigation. Strangely enough, it becomes apparent that the prime suspects are vampires, and their crime spree goes back many hundreds of years, shifting across the planet and spreading vampirism in their wake. One priest, one homeless man, and two detectives seem to hold the key, and all need to work fast to stop the deaths of so many more before it is too late for the world to recover from the horror.

This first book in the Triskellion Saga was a pleasant surprise. I prepared for a good crime story and bounced into a paranormal tale filled with shock, sadness, humor, and gore. Some characters in Rodney W. McWilliams' tale made me laugh out loud, while others left me reeling from their actions and intent. Constantly shifting between the worlds of vampires and police kept the story intriguing, piquing my interest more and more as I didn't lose track of the plot at any time. The backgrounds of each of the characters are quite varied. I cried more than once while reading Scourge, as it emotionally pulled me with each turn of the page, having lived some of the same difficulties as those in the tale. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to seeing what awaits readers in Book 2. I highly recommend Scourge to readers over 15 who are fans of blended genres such as crime and paranormal books.
