Every now and then, people remember their dreams. Twenty-five-year-old Lettie, however, has the same dream that seems to unravel something important to her night after night. When the dream starts to become real, the young photographer’s life begins to take a different turn, and she is about to discover a surprising truth about herself. Righteous Decisions is a thrilling paranormal tale and the first installment in the Decisions series by Casey Harvell.
Although all the characters are well-written, I took an instant liking towards the protagonist right away. Even with the unexpected things that she has to face, Lettie never loses her sense of humor from start to finish. She is also a more complex character compared to other female protagonists in other paranormal romance stories that I have read this year. Personality wise, she is refreshing. Despite her being a misfit, many readers will definitely be able to relate to her.
Overall, this is a brilliant read. Author Casey Harvell keeps the suspense and haunting elements high. I have to admit Righteous Decisions frightened me and kept me on edge all the time; the excellent prose is one of the main reasons for this, as well as a solid plot. Part of me feels that perhaps the ending was too abrupt. At the same time, I think it is a brilliant cliffhanger to make readers, and me, want more. To all paranormal fans, don’t overlook this novel or you’ll miss something great!
