As Resurrection of an Empire, The Magic Within Series: Book 2 by Sharon Gibbs opens, Christopher and Elle seem to lose what they had fought so hard for. Going back, then, to the previous Spring when the tyrant Arnak had been defeated and the wizards began to reconstruct Solencia, Christopher and Elle begin to plan for their life together. Learning and growing together, they join the wizards in reconstructing the Keep, home of the magic of the land that is being reborn. Working with their friends and fellow countrymen, Christopher and Elle help return peace and prosperity to everyone. Little do they know, the evil Athena is still alive, planning the return of Zute, the evil wizard who had been banished to the Underlands a thousand years earlier. Magic, mythical beasts and hidden secrets come together again in Solencia as Athena’s power grows, thanks to the dedication of her enchanted servants. Will the good that has been spread be strong enough to combat the coming threat? Can Christopher, who is called ‘The One’, overcome the power of Zute who has planned his revenge for a thousand years?
Resurrection of an Empire quickly picks up where Book 1 of the Magic Within Series, Bound To Survive leaves off so I strongly suggest reading them in order. Author Sharon Gibbs has created a realistic world in which good and evil struggle for survival and in Book 2, the positive qualities of the characters are allowed to shine. Although they will be tested again by the evil that is trying to regain its dominance, what the characters have experienced provides them with the strength to fight on. The action is quick, the characters are well developed and the message is clear – love is a power that is hard to beat. I really loved the characters and story line. The writing is crisp and keeps the action moving along at a good pace.
