Pixies in the Mist is a fantasy adventure novel written by Rasta Musick. Jake lives a humdrum life in Japan on a student visa, studying Japanese. He spends his free time attending a salsa dancing class, where he meets a Scotsman named Kenneth. Unbeknownst to Jake, Kenneth is a Pixie hiding as a human to keep an eye on people with a magical aura. As the two form a burgeoning friendship, Kenneth discovers that Jake is a Seer with dormant magical powers. After an encounter with a dangerous woman exposes Jake to the truth, Kenneth promptly takes him to the Kingdom of Pixies to protect his life. But nowhere is safe as Jake finds himself beholden to powerful beings while attached to the Vyril, putting his life at risk.
Pixies in the Mist is a fast-moving fantasy adventure novel that offers plenty of entertainment for young adult readers. Author Rasta Musick doesn't take much time to draw the reader into the story and puts them in the midst of the action from the get-go. Jake is a likable protagonist. As a student, all he wants is some excitement in his life to make full use of it. But when he is put into circumstances where he feels completely in over his head, Jake surprisingly rises to the occasion and does the best that he can. Kenneth is another compelling character who is torn between fulfilling his duty and the care he feels for his friend. An entertaining fantasy adventure novel that I would recommend to young adult readers.
