Pipe Dream Bluz: An Annette Dupart Book (Bluz Series) by Patrick W. Emmett blends murder and mystery to pack a solid punch. Annette Dupart is rightly apprehensive when her brother Boudreaux calls her with the news of an investment with a major car dealership in Biloxi, Mississippi, in which he bought a share for $50, 000. Problems arose when the car dealer, Wilber DeRoss, died in a car accident. The family and other hopeful heirs are shocked when they learn that Wilber’s entire estate is left to a questionable woman in Biloxi. As Boudreaux seeks help from his sister in understanding the bizarre situation, those with connections to the dealership begin to die in mysterious ways. Who will be next and can criminal investigative officer, Captain Z, unravel the mystery and solve the murders before it is too late?
Pipe Dream Bluz is unpredictable and relentlessly thrilling, a story with a twisty plot and sophisticated characters. It is interesting how the excitement of being part of a big business quickly turns into fear when Boudreaux learns about the death of Wilber. Everything takes an unexpected turn with the discovery of who inherits Wilber’s estate. Murder and mystery are carefully crafted to keep readers fully invested in this mesmerizing story, with a rookie crime investigator struggling to make sense of an already complicated situation. Patrick W. Emmett unfolds the plot cleverly and he produces prose that is captivating with believable characters. This is a highly recommended read for fans of crime thrillers.
