Have you ever seen a penny lying on the ground and you just walk right past it? After all it is just a lowly penny. What good is it? Then you see another and another. If you had been picking them up you would soon have a pocket full.
When I started to read this book, I became so involved with the life of the author that I could not put the book down until I reached the last page. Mr. Goskowski is a prime example that throughout life we will find many disappointments which may leave us discouraged; but when we refuse to give up we will eventually accomplish what we set out to do. Born into a family of strong values Goskowski has watched many go into the coal mines only to be injured.
The coal mine eventually took his father’s life. That’s when he determined to have a different and better future. When the family struggled to make ends meet and rise above poverty, they prevailed. This is his story from his school years, through World War II, through his marriage, and strong faith. The reader journeys with him as he faced obstacles, stress, hatred, and jealousy as he climbed the corporate ladder to success.
The benefit of this book spans multi generations. There are valuable lessons to be learned within the pages. Always remember pennies add up. Keep your eye on your goal and don't give up your dream.
