Devin, the main character in Out of the Box, is very imaginative. He can see so many adventures in an ordinary box that his friends cannot see. The box is so much more. Author Greg McGoon has written a wonderful book that makes people think: “Those children may not like the same things you like. What you like or do not like is for you to discover. Someday someone will share the journey. Find joy and fun in what you see. That belongs to you.” Out of the Box is an excellent book for children and adults, and hopefully, they will share an adventure after reading this must-have book. Where will the box take your children? What adventures can you have with your children and an ordinary box? When you finish reading this intriguing story, I predict that you will go to a local The UPS Store to buy a big box.
Author Greg McGoon has created a wonderful story that encourages creative, imaginative play. Out of the Box explains what Devin sees when he looks at the ordinary box. Sometimes the box is a rocket ship flying in outer space. Another time it’s a ship with a sail going wherever the wind takes it. It can be a castle or a fortress. What will your children see? Out of the Box also explores emotions and how Devin feels when some of his friends cannot “see” the potential for exciting adventures. But, he keeps trying, and eventually Devin finds a friend who visualizes the potential of an ordinary box. Illustrator Elettra Cudignotto provides some interesting, impactful, stylized illustrations. Where will a box take you today?
