Our Hope For Isabelle: Grieving with Joy and Hope for Eternity through Infant Loss is written by a deeply devout couple, Elizabeth and Taylor Bloomquist, who had to endure the loss of their precious daughter. Their deep faith brings them closer as their unborn baby tests positive for a rare genetic chromosomal abnormality called Trisomy 18, which is shocking and saddening to them. Yet, before the birth of this high-fatality baby, they knew and proceeded to take the chance to give their unborn child life, living months of uncertainty.
Touchingly written by coauthors Elizabeth and Taylor Bloomquist, they share their deepest pain and their journey through grief individually and as a committed couple, in each other and Jesus Christ, to help others deal with the grieving process of infant loss, which is every parent’s nightmare. Elizabeth noticed that many books on grief on the market were geared solely toward mothers and wives and that the fathers and husbands had very few resources available to them to cope with their grief. They specifically wanted a book on grief that focused on both the mothers and the fathers so that men could have more tools to help them during this devastating time. Elizabeth and Taylor take turns sharing how each maintained their sanity after the loss and what specifically worked in their lives as individuals and as a couple. This book gives people, especially grieving fathers, an essential tool in helping them navigate through infant loss.
