Violet Faith is looking for a fresh start. She finally dumped her loser boyfriend, Jake Jordan, and she is now ready to find happiness in life. But while she still struggles to get rid of all his things in her apartment and make that final attempt to put him in the past once and for all, she is hit with a bombshell. One week after Violet kicked him to the curb, Jake Jordan is now a multi-millionaire after winning the lottery. As Violet struggles to make ends meet, she now has to watch her ex flaunt his wealth, appearing on TV shows and in tabloids, and even on a billboard right outside of her work. One Billion Tears by Belinda Bennett brings chick lit fans a worst nightmare for women everywhere!
I highly enjoyed this novel! I thought One Billion Tears by Belinda Bennett was original, fast-paced and comedic. There was no way not to feel Violet’s pain. And to not get mad at karma! I felt terrible that Violet was such a genuine person yet couldn’t seem to find a break, while Jake was such scum and wins millions of dollars and turns into an overnight celebrity. He was such a sleazy character, and definitely one easy to hate. This book was on the short side. Sometimes I felt like scenes zipped by a little too fast and could either have been deleted (the vacation scene in particular) or expanded on, but other than that, I thought this novel was brilliant! A lot of fun and one I recommend to chick lit fans.
