Corruption in Capital City is the second book in N.G. Avant's Capital City series. The protagonist is Calista Caldwell, the quick-witted, recently rehired political assistant of Councillor Ralph Mastronzo. Amid the new election year, Ralph is as demanding as ever and eager to secure his future in the political ring. Things take a strange turn at Ralph's election night party when he unceremoniously demands the removal of two young girls from his sight. Who are these girls? Who is responsible for the mysterious disappearance of teen girls in Capital City? Does it have anything to do with a suspicious report on business licensing that Calista stumbled upon? Is Ralph connected to these events? The road to the truth is a slippery and dangerous one. Can Calista survive till the end and restore justice in the process?
Corruption in Capital City by N.G. Avant is a thrilling, engaging, and drama-packed novel that will occupy your every thought while you read. Readers are ushered into an intriguing political world where Calista and her team are forced to maneuver through a web of deceit, political confusion, lies, cover-ups, secrets, and shocking plot twists. The pacing, character development, and dialogue are impeccably done and fit the dramatic sequences perfectly. Each character is believable and draws readers further into this high-stake political thriller. This plot keeps you guessing. Just when you think you have figured out who is involved in the corruption that transpires (and their individual motives), there is another twist that will immerse you even deeper into Calista's investigation. I enthusiastically look forward to book three to discover the final outcome. I am certain that fans of political intrigue centered around strong and capable women will also eagerly await the next installment in this thrilling series.
