Jennifer S. Alderson (1972) worked as a journalist and website developer in Seattle, Washington before trading her financial security for a backpack. After traveling extensively around Asia and Central America, she moved to Darwin, Australia, before finally settling in the Netherlands. Home is now Amsterdam, where she lives with her Dutch husband and young son.
Jennifer’s travels and experiences color and inform her internationally-oriented fiction. Her first novel, Down and Out in Kathmandu: A Backpacker Mystery, is a travel fiction adventure through Nepal and Thailand. The Lover’s Portrait: An Art Mystery, her second book, is a suspenseful ‘whodunit?’ which transports readers to wartime and present day Amsterdam.
Both are part of an on-going stand-alone series following the adventures of traveler and culture lover, Zelda Richardson. The third installment, another art-related travel thriller (working title: Smuggler’s Deceit) will be released in the Fall of 2017.

Notes of a Naive Traveler: Nepal and Thailand by Jennifer S. Alderson is the entertaining and fascinating travel story of a twenty-seven-year-old whose entire perspective changes after the amazing experience she has after traveling to Nepal and Thailand. Traveling is an adventure and the author’s story is an example of how travel can transform the world if you let it. The book begins with the author’s trip to Nepal after she volunteers to work in Nepal for four months, and living there with a traditional family where religion and ritual still rule daily lives. It is a story of self-discovery, realization, and an attempt to find out what a woman wants to do with her life.
The author’s experiences are uplifting and motivating and will inspire readers to take a backpack and travel to new destinations. The book is honest and raw and the photographs shared will enable readers to connect well with the author’s experiences. The detailed narration captures the essence, sights and sounds of both the places, and fills readers with an urge to discover Nepal and Thailand. All areas, be it food, religion, people, languages, customs, landscapes, and living in each place have been effectively covered and, for those planning to travel to Nepal and Thailand, they will know what to expect once they get there. The various glimpses of the author’s travels will definitely encourage readers to take a step to an unknown destination and see what happens.
