I am glad I chose to read Not Another Rainy Day by RyAnn Adams Hall with my daughter. The story is about a little girl, Kayleigh, stuck inside on a rainy day. The mother is constantly reassuring her that the rain will stop and distracting her with indoor activities.
The first thing I loved about Not Another Rainy Day was that the little girl’s name was Kayleigh. My daughter’s name is Kaylee, so she thought the book was just for her. She got a kick out of all the toys in the book which she also happens to own. She also loved the term “bouncy balls”, because a ball is not a ball if it is not bouncy! I loved that the book was easy to read. My daughter, who is 3 years old, was able to read most of it herself. I also liked that when the mother said “tomorrow”, it wasn’t said as a promise but as a possibility. Kids never forget a promise but do understand what maybe means. The artwork is colorful and eye-catching.
Not Another Rainy Day is an easy read and great for kids. RyAnn Adams Hall also gives parents some ideas on how to distract their children and what to say to them on days when they are stuck inside. I would never have thought to say that the rain is washing stuff like pollen away. This is a book I would read over and over again and would not mind my daughter having it in her collection. I look forward to reading more books about Kayleigh, and my daughter does too.
