Time to get silly! Naked Butt Busts Out! by Jane Smith will tickle your funny bone. Naked Butt is a young bunny who, you guessed it, likes to go without clothes. He loves the feel of the cool breeze and sunshine on his fur. The bunnies where he lives are all expected to wear clothes at school, in stores, and outside. Whenever he removes his clothes, his teacher, coach, or momma will put them back on. One day he and his momma head to a fun indoor class. Naked Butt desperately tries to keep his clothes on, but they continue to become more and more uncomfortable. What will Naked Butt do?
Jane Smith knows what will get kids laughing. The title alone, Naked Butt Busts Out!, will start kids giggling right away. As a retired librarian who did storytime for over 30 years, anything that involves underwear or butts is an instant hit with kids. The illustrations, also by the author, are very bright, colorful, and full of movement. Kids will get a kick out of his naked tush with a cottontail as he runs around. Jane has subtly included the message that we are all different and should celebrate those differences. Even though Naked Butt is a bunny, many of the situations he's in will be familiar to young readers. Parents may hope that their kids don't want to emulate Naked Butt too closely, but they will appreciate the message that children need to embrace their uniqueness. Naked Butt Busts Out! will have both parents and kids laughing out loud.
