Chloe has a story to tell. She’s an eighty-pound bundle of joy that was adopted by a loving family with other pets. Chloe wants to share her story, so she wrote a collection of short stories to introduce herself and share some of her adventures. Each story begins with, “Hi. My name is Chloe.” Or something similar. She likes to introduce herself with each story entry, which is much like a journal entry. She shares her daily experiences, from eating to pooping to playing to bathing and so much more. Chloe is happy in her life and that’s the main message here. She has a loving family with loving friends to share her joy. In fact, her best friend is a cat, a secret she only shares with us, her avid readers.
James Smoot’s cute little story, My Name Is Chloe, is a clever way to share the stories and experiences of a loving pet. The stories read like journal entries and are interactive with the reader. With each new story, after Chloe introduces herself again, she asks the reader, “What’s your name?” Through this simple question, Chloe shows an interest in her readers, just like she shows an interest in everything else in her life. And she repeatedly thanks the reader for reading with her and being her friend as she shares her stories. This is a very kind story, one that teaches sharing, loving and caring for pets and other living creatures. Chloe has a simple message to share; that life is good when everyone cares about each other. A real treasure.
