My Job Gen Z: Finding Your Place in a Fast Changing World, by Suzanne Skees, is an inspiring, enlightening self-help book for Gen Zers looking for their dream job. In this value-filled guide, you'll learn about Gen Zers and how they can best succeed in today's sometimes confusing and uncertain world. You'll study careers, the idea of work itself and what it means in society, how to start building a career, and the nuts and bolts of hunting for a job. The vignettes are based on real people of this particular generation and express the unique challenges and strengths they have. Of course, the author brings it all together from her unique and powerful perspective.
Looking for a job or planning a career during a pandemic and recession aren't the easiest things to do, but Skees brings assurance, skills, and knowledge on how to navigate through it toward success. One thing I like is that she emphasizes the qualities that are unique to Gen Z, identified by research surveys. And since I love success stories and think we can learn so much from them, I was happy to read the success stories of famous and everyday Gen Zers reaching for their goals and hearing about how they are doing it, while handling their challenges. What hasn't changed through generations of job seekers, as the author points out, is the need to know what you're good at, how to gain experience, how to ace a job interview, how to maneuver through pay terms. Remote work and the gig economy are also addressed, as this is one of the biggest features of today's working world. This book has a fresh, stylish appeal, and is written for the generation born after 1995, using clear, concise language, and a positive tone.
The author brings a strong "If they can do it, I can do it" message to a generation that may be wondering what possibilities lie ahead. It has a ring of encouragement and hope and will motivate readers to recognize their power, readjust, keep trying, and never give up. You'll appreciate the intriguing information that lies within these pages, from the importance of global citizenship to best practices following an interview to a 14-year-old entrepreneur responsible for Luv Ur Skin products. It isn't your grandparents' or parents' generation anymore, although without them Gen Z wouldn't be what it is today. Generation Z is different, special, talented, and resilient. My Job Gen Z: Finding Your Place in a Fast Changing World, by Suzanne Skees, should be in the hands of every Gen Zer taking their first step into the world of work.
