Michael and Hannah and the Magical Money Tree is a children’s book by Anthony C. Delauney. Michael and Hannah are excited about the spring fair and a trip with some neighborhood friends to see the money tree. When they arrive, they see the tree leaves have been replaced with folded dollar bills, and they can’t wait to spend the cash on the items at the fair. There are rules, and if the children aren’t satisfied with the outcome before the last toy is purchased, they are told they may earn their own money by performing a list of chores. Michael notices there aren’t enough items for everyone, and he comes up with a solution he hopes will make his classmates happy.

Anthony C. Delauney has written a lovely children’s book with a beautiful meter! His story teaches a lesson about sharing, hard work, empathy, and friendship. Chiari Civati’s vivid illustrations burst from the page and will surely capture a child’s eye. The story's focus is the lesson learned from hard work, and it is seen in the resolution as the children work together for everyone’s benefit. Educators and librarians may use the book to start a learning path, and they can feel comfortable with the text as Delauney is a financial advisor. Michael and Hannah and the Magical Money Tree is a great book for children old enough to understand chores and their relationship to allowance or money.

Michael and Hannah and the Magic Money Tree by Anthony C. Delauney narrates the story of Hannah and her brother Michael, siblings who attend The Spring Fair with their friends. This year, however, in addition to excellent food and amusing acts, the fair featured an exciting new event: a money-making tree. The friends immediately envision all the wonderful things they could buy with such a large sum of money. They initially believe their hopes have come true, but this amicable gang will learn an important life lesson. This picture book is ideal for educating kids about money management in a fun and straightforward manner.

Michael and Hannah and the Magic Money Tree depict Hannah's and Michael's encounter with a miraculous money-making tree. As enticing as an object that generates money for free may be, this duo and their friends quickly learn the vital lesson of money management. Anthony C. Delauney describes how earning what you get, sharing and takings equitably, and regulating spending work. Although it may appear a complicated subject for children, this picture book surprised me with its simple explanations perfectly paired with colorful and well-worked drawings. I would strongly recommend this book to any parent wanting to educate their children on basic financial concepts but unsure how to do it. It won’t disappoint.

Michael and Hannah and the Magic Money Tree by Anthony C. Delauney is about two siblings who attend a spring fair. There is a new attraction at the fair—a money-making tree. The tree has enough money for the siblings and their friends, but it must be spent to buy items at the attraction. The children take the money, but because there are only so many items to buy, some children end up with almost nothing. The children try to think of a way to split the goodies, but there’s no satisfactory answer. However, there is another option: they can return the money and work for cash instead. So they each choose a job, do the work, and learn the lesson that doing work is the best way to ensure everyone gets their fair share. Delauney is a financial advisor who says the book is for kindergarten through third-grade children. Chiara Civati illustrates this fourth book in the Owning the Dash Kids’ Book series.

By writing Michael and Hannah and the Magic Money Tree, Anthony C. Delauney has again presented children with an excellent resource to help them learn an essential aspect of finances. Delauney has the gift of not only knowing what children need to learn about money but presenting the information in an enjoyable, easy-to-understand way. The story is cleverly thought out and presented in rhyme, which adds to the fun of reading for children old enough to read and/or for those reading to younger children. The illustrations by Chiara Civati are beautiful and fit the text perfectly. I also like that the illustrations show children of many ethnicities. This is another book by Delauney that receives my highest possible recommendation to children, their parents, and their grandparents.
