M. Robertson’s Mask Among The Bones is an action-adventure thriller set in the world of archaeology and the illegal sale of artifacts. Young grad student Jessica Lane is given a map to the location of a sacred jade mask. She is aware that others also know of the mask and her map so she makes plans to find it before it falls into the greedy hands of black marketers. But, someone has let it be known that she is the one who wishes to sell the priceless piece. If that isn’t bad enough, additional trouble finds her from the very beginning. It seems that someone will stop at nothing to keep their greed alive…
The story is written in an easy style but the characters and plotting is done very well. The plot unfolds at a pace that keeps reader interest as the action and suspense increase. The setting of the story is interesting with good detail and descriptions of the exotic setting helps set the stage for a solid tale.
The author has created some interesting and slightly unusual characters, giving the reader a glimpse of the happenings at an archaeological dig. Then, of course, there is the danger of a jungle setting as well. Overall, the author created a believable setting with enough intrigue, danger, and adventure to keep the reader fully engaged. The story is appropriate for all ages, teenage to adult. For lovers of intrigue, action, and adventure, this book comes to a very satisfying ending. Well done.
