Man on the Throne: Becoming the Spiritual Leader of Your Kingdom Within the Kingdom of God by Jordan Burgen is an inspirational book that spells out the spiritual role of a father in the family. The author redefines the dynamics of marriage and contextualizes the concept within the biblical sense — a mirror of the relationship between Christ and the Church. In this book, the author explores the beauty and challenges of being a husband and a spiritual father to one’s family. The role of the man in the family comes out neatly, backed by strong biblical references and practical wisdom.
Jordan Burgen has written a book that parents and young people considering marriage need to read. It offers the wisdom that anyone needs to model their role after the teachings of Christ. Most people, including myself, get into marriage unprepared and quickly are caught up in the exhaustion that comes with struggling to fix things, build our family, and protect it — that is what men are wired for — and this book provides an even better way of leading the father, spiritually. Written in a very simple and engaging style that invites readers into an honest conversation with the author, Man on the Throne offers practical wisdom on how to handle some of the situations and challenges that fathers face every day. The book has a lot of insight on how to bring meaning, more love, and life into the family, and a lot more. I have read so many books on parenting, but this is the one book I’d recommend for fathers who want to experience spiritual growth and to communicate it to their family.
