Love10 by Theresa Konwinski is a wonderful tale of love and family that follows the love story of Edith and Robert Riedel. The story opens with a wedding and takes readers on a ride through the life of the couple from their young ages through numerous challenges. It is 1928, and when Edith and Robert tie the knot, they are not prepared for what awaits them. Follow them as they live through the Great Depression, experience two deadly diseases in the family, and the devastating effects of WWII. And most interestingly, they have to endure all this while raising ten children.
Love10 by Theresa Konwinski espouses the Christian values of love and loyalty, of family and hard work, of perseverance and hope. The story is told in a lyrical style and in beautiful prose. The characters are extraordinary and I loved the way they are developed. Both Edith and Robert are raised in a life rooted in faith. When we meet Edith, she is full of life, and at sixteen, she has already carried the burdens of motherhood, taking on responsibility after the death of her mother who died when she was seven.
Theresa Konwinski captures the experience of rural life well in the story and invites readers to navigate a world where people didn’t think about how many kids they had. The novel is filled with natural dialogues, and the characters are real. I felt like walking through a community while reading this book. It is expertly written, engaging, and fast-paced. The humor is intelligently written and it will bring smiles to the faces of readers. It is an exciting read that culminates in a wonderful ending.
