Loukas and the Game of Chance is written by Anthony L. Manna. A boy named Loukas was able to befriend a seemingly magical snake through his musical gift of playing the flute. His life and that of his family started to change since the snake would always leave three gold coins after Loukas’s performances. With the blossoming of the boy and the snake’s friendship, the boy named the snake Lambros and years of prosperity followed Loukas and his family. When the time was ripe, Loukas married Thera, a seamstress and one of the islanders, and they were blessed with children. Things continued to go well but pride, as well as anger, took over Loukas which made him lose all the fortune he had gained from Lambros. He lost his family, too. Upon realizing the severity of his actions, he embarked on a quest to change his fate and, most importantly, to gain his family back.
Reading Loukas and the Game of Chance is one of the best things a person can do because it is unlike any other story. The adventure is there, and so are important life lessons. By reading it, you will already have fun but it will also remind you to be careful with your life decisions. This story is definitely relevant. Anthony Manna, the author, has the talent to take you places and hold your attention. The way he created the flow of the story will keep you wanting more while being inspired. It might be based on a Greek tale but the author was able to make this story his own. It’s so rich in color you would think it is one of the classics. Loukas and the Game of Chance is definitely a must-read. Children will have a fun but meaningful time with this story. The adults too because this story is definitely for everyone!
