Lily and Niko look up at the sky after hearing a noise. It is dark. Mrs. Mandy takes the children indoors because outside there is thunder and lightning and she tells them it is not safe to play outside when there is thunder and lightning. She introduces her class to Roman’s father, who is a meteorologist, and tells them that he is going to talk about the weather. He speaks to the class about thunder and lightning and why thunder comes after lightning. He also explains about storm, hail, lightning, and thunder and what has to be done during a storm.

Beal is an informative and educational story that makes learning science interesting and gives tips on how to stay safe when a thunderstorm happens. I like the author’s approach to the topic. Beal blends science and information with art and creativity, thereby making the concept and learning an exciting experience for young readers. The illustrations are charming and they breathe life into the characters and story, and make learning playful and interactive. The questions and activities at the end of the book are helpful for readers to reflect on the story. Books like this are perfect for children to learn about new concepts in a relaxed way without feeling stressed. It is a good storybook for tutors and parents to read out loud to youngsters and there are a few activities that can be done in the classroom together.
