Lingeria by Daniel Kozuh comes to life before Norman Halliday’s eyes when he finds himself face to face with his own characters. Norman is an author who has given his life to his Lingeria book series, a fantasy adventure filled with magic, goblins, elves, and other beings. Norman was completely ordinary until his life took a dramatic turn when his fictional characters invaded his life. As if his life isn’t getting weird enough, he ends up staying with one of his characters and is begged to help save Lingeria. He’s whisked away to his own fictional world where his characters view him as a god and his books as scripture. His world faces a bigger problem thanks to a wizard that took over the land and, to make matters even stranger, this is a character Norman never wrote. A few of his fictional creations join him as he embarks on a quest to stop the evil wizard and save the world.
The premise is a unique and delightful adventure that brings the innermost thoughts of an author to life and spills it out onto the page. The central character is an author that is literally watching his creations come to life around him before being pulled into the world of his own creation. The two worlds begin to merge in a creative way as Daniel Kozuh weaves together fiction and reality for a premise that is funny, original, and action-packed. Norman discovers with his own eyes how alive is his world of Lingeria. The series Norman has authored is woven throughout the story with snippets which help bring this fictional world to life. The descriptions Kozuh delivers bring the world to life through humorous and vivid details such as comparing a goblin’s laughter to a leaking aerosol can. Norman's arc takes a fun shift as he goes from being an author with an imaginary world to the creator of a world brought to life - this pushes him to face new responsibilities and to truly see himself. Lingeria is a unique fantasy adventure that brings fiction to life in a fun read from beginning to end.
