Let's Make a Rainbow: A Yoga Story for Kids by Susan Rose is a beautiful book inside and out. It was raining outside and Lilly wanted to use her imagination to take her away, so she asked her brother to do some yoga to make their day happy and not sad. As they tried each pose in the book, their imaginations soared, and they experienced so many fun places in their minds. Each page has a different pose with a sweet rhyme to go with the pose. There are many poses to learn including the lion pose and the tree pose, with the last one being the beautiful rainbow pose. Also at the end of the book, you will find some fun facts about a rainbow.
This is the first children's book I have read about yoga, and I love it. What a great way to keep a child busy and happy during a rainy day. And while they are having fun, they are exercising and keeping their bodies and minds healthy and busy. The beautiful illustrations by Timna Green are creative and so colorful, bringing the story to life through the pictures on the pages. This is a sweet book that would be awesome in elementary libraries and classrooms. I think Let's Make a Rainbow is good for younger children or can be for older elementary kids as well. If yoga is something your child would like, Susan Rose's Let's Make a Rainbow is a great book to have. I think this would make a lovely gift for your child's friends so they can learn yoga together.
