Leaving Triscuit: Conscious Goodbyes, Happy Homecomings by Will Pollock is a unique look at how to leave a pet for a period of time and how to stay in touch. Anyone who has ever had to leave their pet for a long period of time knows exactly how hard it can be, for both you and your pet. It doesn’t need to be that way though. We are introduced to Triscuit, an energetic Rat Terrier who is full of fun and raring to go. Triscuit and Will are going to show you how to relieve the stress of leaving your best friend behind through the use of compassionate communication techniques and picture imaging. These techniques are introduced to us by no less than four experts in animal communication and they will provide you with techniques on how to communicate with your pet, even when you are not there, and lots of handy checklists to help you. Triscuit and Will used to get so stressed out when Will had to go away; now, thanks to these techniques, it is much easier on both of them and far less stressful all round. You too can learn how to say goodbye in a positive way.
Leaving Triscuit: Conscious Goodbyes, Happy Homecomings is a fascinating read. I have pets and I absolutely hate leaving them, talking myself into believing that they can’t cope without me when, in all truthfulness, it is the other way around! I learnt quite a bit from this book, techniques that I will be trying out next time I have to travel. The steps that Will provides are backed up with anecdotes and psychology, all designed to banish the guilt at having to leave them and turn it into a happy ritual that everyone benefits from. I hope this book will also help people who don’t have pets better understand how those of us that do feel when we have to leave our pets. Good book, I highly recommend it.
