Keepers and Destinies by Carl F. Brothers was an absolute pleasure to read. The author has an amazing way with words and writes with such eloquence. Every scene is so beautifully descriptive while still maintaining its purpose of showing you exactly what is happening and how the characters are feeling. The world-building was well done as we get a glimpse of not only the structure within Heaven but the chaos of Hell which was set to be unleashed on Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of reading, so much so that I can’t even be mad at the ending which was a cliffhanger. Usually, cliffhangers are not one of my favorite things to encounter at the end of a book, but Brothers generated anticipation for a follow-up. This is a must-read as it encompasses so many different themes without being too focused on the religious aspect that usually goes along with this kind of storyline.

Keepers & Destinies was the perfect story to read on a rainy day when I had little to do. I was looking for a novel to keep me engaged, and author Carl F Brothers didn’t disappoint. The story had drama, action, suspense, intensity, relatable characters, incredible world-building, and an exciting plot that had me on the edge of my seat. Andrea was a little naïve at first. She was hyper-focused on finding the prophet but learned what being a human meant. James, on the other hand, was struggling terribly. Andrea gave him a new purpose, enough for him to push forward. The narrative was fantastic. The pace was fast, the story was exciting, and the characters were well-thought-out. The ending gave me goosebumps, and the epilogue sealed it all for me. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

You will go on a journey you won’t forget, as descriptive writing opens worlds you never knew existed, describing them in a way that allows you to see them and feel like you are there. The characters are well-developed and interact well with each other and the other characters. It’s more than just a story, though, as it contains life lessons we could all learn from, not to mention spiritual lessons. The author has a great imagination, which plays out in this book's pages; the ending will definitely leave you wanting the next one.

Meeting veteran James, Andrea feels their bond grow, but little do either of them realize just how instrumental Andrea’s presence on Earth is to the hellish plans to change the face of existence as they know it.

Author Carl F Brothers has crafted a highly engaging fantasy novel that encompasses theology, mythology, and the author’s own vivid imagination to bring a descriptive and atmospheric tale to life. One of the features that I enjoyed most about this novel was its pacing and plot construction because it felt as though there was always another twist waiting around the corner. It offered a great edge-of-your-seat feeling as Andrea and James braved the various dangers thrown at them. I also personally really enjoyed James’s character journey and development, and his dialogue was always refreshing and relatable to the situation, the ‘human perspective’ as it were. This made for an interesting clash of character dynamics, but the way the author crafts the gradual bond developing in the central pairing was heartfelt and very meaningful toward the novel’s end. Overall, I would certainly recommend Keepers & Destinies to fantasy fans everywhere, and I can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
