Author Biography

Hi, I'm Marnie from Melbourne. I create inclusive children's books and products to support children in learning and life. I started Butterfly Publishing after a children's book I wrote 2 years ago called 'I'm a Dyslexic Superhero' was very well received, and I needed a platform to 'house' my products. I've since launched my second book 'The Eczema Detective' (together with the Eczema Association of Australasia). My passion project has become a full time job, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!

Dyslexia affects the ability to read and can cause the person to confuse the letters or alter their order. For children with dyslexia, reading can be a little more difficult, but with effort, they can do it. I'm a Dyslexic Superhero is the story of an adorable girl named Kyla who explains the advantages and disadvantages of this situation. This book is appropriate not only for children but also for adults because it includes tips to stimulate the love of reading and creativity in children with dyslexia. Kyla begins by explaining to the children what dyslexia means and mentions celebrities who have it, to show how common the situation is and not a limitation to achievement. In an entertaining story, Marnie Hibbert addresses this issue objectively.

I was surprised by all the factors that Marnie Hibbert considered when writing this book. The font, arrangement of the words, and the colors are all designed to help children with dyslexia and create an enjoyable experience. She explains how to select books they could read most easily and gives reading tips on how to keep their attention. I'm a Dyslexic Superhero has an advice section to help children, while an activities section at the end makes the book more engrossing. I liked this book because of how comprehensive it is. The presentation is very friendly, deals carefully with the topic, and gives very useful hints for both children and the adults who care for them.
