Hope Is Within Reach; Overcoming the Challenges of Austism Spectrum Disorder is written by Jamie Scheid. This book was designed for parents but marketable to all readers wanting to gain more insight on Autism Spectrum Disorder. The design, layout and formatting of the book is excellent, allowing for a comfortable reading experience. The story itself is written in a personal, conversational style or tone.
Hope is within Reach; Overcoming the Challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder is about one family's experiences with autism through their first born son. A mother shares her experiences of doubt, joy, love, sadness, anger, self confidence, perseverance, self determination, and wanting to give up hope as she and her husband learn to cope with their son's disorder. As the mother shares her life experiences you, the reader, can use the book as helpful insight into autism.
Author Jamie Scheid writes this story as if she is talking one-on-one with you (the reader) directly. I loved this detail of the book. It allows for it to become more relatable and realistic to your own experiences or thoughts about the book's plot. I do not personally have a child that was diagnosed with autism but have a family member who has. I found it refreshing, and insightful to read the path Jamie and her husband took as they ventured down the road of autism, as I remember similar stories from a relative. The book allows for parents/people to know that they are not alone.
The end of the book offers a reference page for all the resources Jamie Scheid and her husband had used or could possibly help others seeking help with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This was a great addition to the book. I'm sure all readers will appreciate, as I did.
