Hedgehog's Wish is a children's animal story by Z N Garland. Hedgehog is fed up. He was stuck in a rut in his life and wanted things to change, but nothing happened when he wished. All his friends have different ideas on how to wish to make it come true – on a shooting star, blowing on a dandelion, and all the other ways you can think of to make a wish. But nothing happened. Or did it? What did Hedgehog wish for? Has he made his dream come true in ways he never imagined?
Hedgehog's Wish by Z N Garland is a wonderful story about a hedgehog who can't seem to get out of a slump. The illustrations by the author are lovely and help bring the story to life. It is written in language that is easy for kids to understand and follow. The message here is simple. If things don't go how you planned, don't give up. Life is full of disappointments, but this book teaches that you can easily change your life by doing simple things and by using the creativity and imagination we are all born with. Kids are fantastic at using theirs, and this book will help them. This is down-to-earth advice, with a lovely main character and supporting cast, and kids will love the adventures Hedgehog goes on to make his dream come true. It also teaches kids that sometimes just making a wish isn't enough. It needs to be paired with actions that help make the wish come true, as Hedgehog found out. A lovely story, highly recommended, and not just for the lessons but for the fact that it's a sweet story any child will love.
